Baby's Room Games
Baby's View
Ages : 3 months and up

Every day, baby is placed in the same crib with his or her head the same direction. The care seat is on the same side of car, and usually the highchair sits in the same locationsomewhere near the family table. Baby turns his head and sees the same things from these locations, which allows him or her to remember and record details about his or her environment. To give baby a new, bigger view of his or her environment and to challenge hom or her to increase his or her memory, move things around. Rearrange baby's furniture once in a while. Place baby in the crib with his head in the opposite direction. Move the highchair so baby can look out the window instead of at a wall. Take a few minutes to think about baby's daily view, then do one thing to create a more exciting, stimulating experience.

Display Shelf
Ages : 9 months and up
Clear a shelf somewhere in baby's room to become baby's special museum. On his or her shelf you might want to start out by putting some of baby's first pictures; then as baby gets older, display things baby finds outside, or things baby makes, or things baby has a special interest in. This shelf can include anything that is a record of baby's life or interests. When baby sees the importance of things collected or created, the feeling of being special and important will grow within her.
